NETENGINE LAUNCHES X5 NAS FOR
THE ENTERPRISE
March 10, 2003 – San Jose, California. NetEngine, Inc. today
released X5 NAS™, an affordable solution capable of supporting the
enterprise scale environment. At a time when businesses must focus
on cost-cutting measures combined with an increasing need for redundancy,
security and high-speed performance, the timely release of X5 NAS
provides an affordable solution that makes data protection and management
simple.
Exceptional Performance
With Embedded OS, 64bit disk and network I/O, Xeon CPU with 533MHz
FSB and 512MB or 1.0GB DDR memory, X5 NAS is poised to deliver the
record breaking performance. In addition, X5 NAS supports RAID 0,
1, 5, 10 and JBOD, where RAID 10 combines both performance of RAID
0 while maintaining redundancy of RAID 1. Switched architecture
on the RAID controller card delivers highest throughput with reliability
for both PATA (133MB/sec) and SATA (150MB/sec).
Mission Critical Features
X5 NAS is built to provide services 24/7, and server failure is
no exception to this rule. X5 NAS introduces server to server mirroring
and fail-over. First, content stored on the primary server is copied
and maintained in the secondary server in real-time. Second, all
the server settings of the primary server are updated and maintained
at the secondary server so that when there’s a fail-over from
the primary to the secondary, this process is transparent to the
attached clients. Snap shot data recovery feature protects accidental
deletion of data by users. Local tape back up agent offers tape
back up attachment via. Ultra320 SCSI port mounted on the NAS server.
In addition to the mission critical software features, X5 NAS offers
RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD with hot spare pool, hot swap hard disk
drives, hot swap redundant power supplies, dual Gigabit (copper
or fiber) NIC’s with fail-over and UPS support.
Security and Manageability
X5 NAS secures its data by synchronizing with various servers and
authenticating each user and password for access. X5 NAS uses security
scheme of ADS/PDC/Host IP blocking for Microsoft, NIS and UNIX Host
for UNIX clients, Local/Group security for Apple, Web and FTP clients.
X5 NAS is simple to manage with 10 to 15 minutes required for deployment.
It is accessible from anywhere in the world using SSL based telnet
or web admin interface.
Scalability
X5 NAS SCSI model can be configured with Ultra320 SCSI or fibre
channel based external RAID subsystem in addition to 8 hard
disk drives in 2U chassis and 12 hard disk drives in 3U chassis.
